Areas of Practice: Professor Williams is chair of medicine at University College London (UCL), director of the NIHR UCLH Biomedical Research Centre, and director of research at UCLH. Professor Williams’ research and clinical practice are in the field of hypertension in which he is recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities. He has a particular interest in complex and difficult to control blood pressure and high blood pressure in younger people. He is past-chairman of the European Council on Hypertension of the European Society of Cardiology (2016 – 2018) and past-president of the British Hypertension Society (2001-2003).
