Areas of Practice: Dr. Rafey is a clinical nephrologist who specializes in hypertension. In addition to caring for patients with kidney disease, he has a particular interest in evaluating and managing patients with complex and difficult-to-control hypertension that requires advanced state-of-the-art care and management. Prior to joining the University of Chicago, Dr. Rafey served as a full-time faculty in Nephrology and Hypertension at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine and at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Rafey was a co-investigator on five major trials on kidney disease and hypertension conducted by the National Institute of Health. He has published more than 40 original research papers and abstracts, and authored chapters on hypertension in leading text books of Internal Medicine, Hypertension, Cardiology and Nephrology.
