His research interests include improving treatment outcomes for patients with surgical endocrine disease, and surgical education research. His practice focuses on the treatment of both benign and malignant conditions of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. Dr. Underwood is both fellowship-trained in endocrine surgery and board-certified in general surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES). Within the AAES, he has served on both the patient advocacy committee and the education committee.
